Honoring Mary Ann Weibel
It is with deep sadness but great pride that we put these few words to paper as we bid farewell to Mary Ann Weibel, President of the Women’s Auxiliary, Historic Richmond Town. Mary Ann passed away peacefully at home on April 21st 2020.
Words that capture a vivid image of Mary Ann are vitality, energy, unselfishness and a strong commitment to community. She maintained her easygoing personality with generosity of her time, money and involvement in many activities. She was a wife to Dan, an avid golfer, bowler, volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 15 years and a fundraiser on projects for a Very Special Place.
Mary Ann joined the Women’s Auxiliary in 2008 and began her volunteering time at The Bennett Café while also participating in many fundraising events sponsored by the Women’s Auxiliary and the Historic Richmond Town Society. Recognizing her potential, Mary Ann was invited to join the Auxiliary’s Executive Board. She served as Assistant Treasurer, 2011-2014, Treasurer, 2015-2016 and President 2017 to present.
Mary Ann not only provided leadership for the Women’s Auxiliary but was also visible at every fundraising event often filling in the volunteer gaps especially the breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the Bennett Café.
Mary Ann’s presidency wasn’t without challenge, however she encouraged open mindedness and an ability to adapt to change while always keeping the focus on the Auxiliary’s mission and acting as its liaison with the Historic Richmond Town Executive Director and board.
Mary Ann Weibel although it’s too soon to say goodbye, your memory and contributions to the Women’s Auxiliary Historic Richmond Town will bring a smile to our faces.
Until we meet again, Rest in Peace
