Virtual Bookbinding Workshop
Historic Richmond Town is proud to partner with the Richmondtown branch of the New York Public Library to host a special hands-on learning opportunity at home.
For hundreds of years, the art of bookbinding has allowed for texts to spread across human culture. Assembling a book is a time-honored craft and tradition, and pays homage to the pre-industrial world in which the printed word had immense value.
On Saturday October 8, join us for a special virtual bookbinding class. Felicity Beil, master of historic trades and crafts will lead this session virtually.
Attendees will pick up a kit of materials from the Richmondtown branch of the New York Public Library. This program is intended for intergenerational participants aged 12 and up.
This event is free to participants, and requires registration in advance as space is limited.
The session will provide the initial steps to create a book, with follow up instructions provided.
