Learn how create your own fun & games this Midwinter Recess with NYC Historic House Museums!
Join the Wyckoff House Museum in Queens and fellow historic house sites including the Morris-Jumel Mansion, Old Stone House, Historic Richmond Town, and Lewis Latimer House Museum for a series of interactive virtual programs February 16th-19th at 1PM.
During each session educators will guide participants to create their own fun, historical hands-on activities and games from household materials. Travel though NYC, and the past, without leaving your home!
Session Schedule:
Tuesday, February 16th at 1pm: Classic Board Games with Old Stone House & Historic Richmond Town– Learn how to make and play games of strategy that were played in early America, including Nine Man's Morris and Rota.
Wednesday, February 17th at 1pm: String Games with Wyckoff House Museum - Make whirligigs and other games from buttons and string.
Thursday, February 18th at 1pm: Paper Creations with Lewis Latimer House Museum– Learn to create toys out of paper.
Friday, February 19th at 1pm: Write in Secret Codes with Morris Jumel Mansion Museum- Train to be a Revolutionary War spy by exploring different ways to send secret messages to fellow spies.
Unless otherwise specified, sessions are intended for students ages 8-12. Younger children may require adult assistance.
Sessions will be occurring over Zoom and are free to attend with RSVP. Materials list will be sent upon registration.
