NYC’s Premiere Meat and Greet: BBQ Cookoff Hails the Beginning of Spring
Amazing grill masters and saucy royalty from all over the East Coast and Canada will smoke-up the streets of Historic Richmond Town at New York City’s only Officially Sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) Cookoff.
The best part? When the cooks compete, you eat. And this year is no different. The 7th Annual NYC BBQ Cookoff features 30 teams who provide hungry guests a sample of their best as they compete for the $1,000 first prize. Have a favorite? Text message your choice for the People’s Choice Award!
Eat your way through pounds of meat via 2-ounce servings and wash it down at the beer wagon. Feeling lonely, visit the information booth or the board of director’s pavilion for a friendly break. Join the street festival early in the day to make sure you have time to sample the town… and if you taste too much, don’t worry—complimentary antacids are at the info booth!
If that’s not enough, get your chicken-on at the wing eating contest at 3:00pm, sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings. Two heats, mild for the kids and spicy for the daredevils, draws crowds to see the sauce-strewn faces.
Save time and money! New this year is the EventBrite FastPass line to have you chomping on pulled pork faster than a greased pig! Prepaid tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Bring your ticket to be scanned at a prepaid-only line!
Want to pay at the door? Tickets are $18 and $10 for children 12 and under. Cash and credit cards accepted.
