Pumpkin Picking at  Historic Richmond Town’s Decker Farm returns Saturday, October 3, with all of your favorite autumnal activities! Search the patch for the perfect pumpkin, learn about 19th century farm life, and indulge in delicious fall food favorites, all without leaving Staten Island!

Tickets

  • Admission will be by timed entry ONLY, with a reduced number of tickets sold every hour starting at 11:00am and ending at 4:00pm.

  • Any tickets remaining for each time slot can be purchased on-site on the day-of for an additional $2. Ticket availability is NOT guaranteed for any walk-up sales.

ONLINE - $6.00/person (adults & kids of all ages)
AT THE GATE - $8.00/person

REFUNDS:

  • Due to the necessity of timed ticketing for COVID-19 safety, there are no refunds or exchanges, and tickets are non-transferable. No refunds will be issued and tickets purchased for time slots may not be applied to other times or days.

  • Decker Farm is open every Saturday and Sunday in October, rain or shine.
    No refunds will be given for inclement weather.

COVID-19 SAFETY

This year’s Decker Farm will look a little bit different than past years, but with your help and cooperation, it will still be a fun time for the whole family!

Learn more about the symptoms of COVID-19, and read about measures you can take to stay safe by reading this guidance from the CDC.

In order to provide a safe environment for all our staff and guests, below are a few things we are doing at Decker Farm this year to help stop the spread.

  • Everyone over 2 years old MUST WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES (unless seated and eating/ drinking). You can bring your own mask, or you can wear one you receive with your ticket purchase. Anyone not wearing a mask will e asked to leave without refund.

  • We have restructured our usual features so there are less high touch activities

  • Social distancing is required throughout the site and socially distanced spaces will be provided for dining

  • New systems of crowd control and queuing will be instituted at all of our features including in our Pumpkin Patch.

  • Additional signage will be placed throughout the grounds will remind all guests of COVID-19 safety rules and guidelines.

  • Hand sanitizing and hand washing stations will be provided by Lidl

  • Additional restrooms and more frequent disinfecting will be provided.

  • Additional staff will be on hand to monitor all COVID-19 safety protocols, crowd control, and to perform more frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch areas

Pumpkin Patch: Our pumpkin patch features pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Complete with photo-ops and fall decorations, you’re sure to experience a picture perfect moment as you decide which pumpkin to take home. (Patch will be set up in socially-distanced fashion. Additional $, pumpkins priced by weight).

Children’s Hay Maze: Don’t worry, grown-ups! You can keep an eye on the kiddos as they try to solve a maze made completely of hay bales.

Pumpkin Chucking: Release your frustration and use our newly installed bungee system to hurl pumpkins. How far can your pumpkin go? ($3 for 3 chucks. Purchase tickets at the Snack Wagon).

Fall Photo Ops: Strike a post and snap a pic on our hayride photo op sponsored by Weisner Bros. Nursery, and hay bale photo op at the main entrance, each festively decorated for the season. Don’t forget to tag Historic Richmond Town and share on social media using #DeckerFarm.

Watch expert pumpkin carver Donna Napoli Steele work her magic and create some amazing faces fit for the Halloween season!

American Indian Artists Inc. (AMERINDA) (Oct. 10, 17)
Established in 1987, American Indian Artists Inc. (AMERINDA), is a community-based multi-arts organization that works to empower Native Americans, break down barriers and foster intercultural understanding and appreciation for Native culture through its arts programs and services to individual artists. This month at Decker Farm, Theater Program Director for AMERINDA, John Scott Richardson, will present a land acknowledgement, as well as a vocal performance displaying the native hand drum. He will also share information about historical native landmarks and sites in surrounding Boroughs of New York. Joining John in his presentation will be Native American artist and curator David Martine who will will discuss the contemporary native art movement in NYC and how it has influenced other non native artists. He will also be demonstrating native art that has had a significant influence on structure of this country (like wampum treaty belts). Additionally, Executive Chef Quentin Glabus , who will speak with guests on the wide-ranging and mostly uncredited influence of Native American foods on non-native society, as well as the many ways Native Americans cultivated early relationship with settlers. Living History Demonstrations: Throughout the month, you can learn about daily life on a 19th century farm, including soap making and laundry demonstrations brought to life by historical interpreters and tradespeople, and see tools and trades like those used by farmers on Staten Island before the 20th century. (Activities vary by weekend. No demonstrations on Oct. 18).

Fall Foods & Shopping: Visit the Decker Farm Snack Wagon, sponsored by Mark’s Bake Shoppe, for fall-flavored donuts, pumpkin pie, cider and pumpkin spice coffee! Plus, we have a variety of vendors for all our fall season shoppers. (Vendors may vary weekly).

Halloween at Decker Farm - OCTOBER 31

This year, come and enjoy a pumpkin picking experience at Decker Farm with a few extra added spooky features created just for Halloween, at no additional cost! Come dressed in costume and snap a photo on our fall photo ops, see the farm decorated in spooky fashion, watch an expert pumpkin carver work their magic, and enjoy Halloween-themed educational activities led by costumed interpreters. PLUS: don’t miss some after-dark Halloween programming up at our main village site for adults from our very own partner programs Ghost Tales with Chris O’Brien and Ghostlight Productions. Join us 8-11pm for “The Odd Occurrence Radio Hour,” a performance of multidimensional readings of famed and thrilling radio dramas from the 1940s to bring you a spookadelic performance of art and storytelling through a menagerie of silhouettes and shadows. DECKER FARM RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Timed-Entry: 

    • Tickets are only valid for the date and time specified.

    • Only get in line to enter within the time window on your ticket. Anyone who arrives any earlier than the time listed on their ticket will be asked to wait. 

    • To assist with capacity and social distancing guidelines, arrival times are strictly enforced. Please adhere to your scheduled time slot!

    • We will do our best to honor late arrivals, but depending on current occupancy limitations at the time of arrival, guests who arrive late are not guaranteed entry and could be turned away without refund. 

    • Once inside the farm, you are welcome to visit for as long as you like. 

    • Any tickets remaining for each time slot can be purchased on-site on the day-of for an additional $2. On-site ticket availability is NOT guaranteed for any walk-up sales.

    • There will be no re-entry. Please ensure that you have everything with you before entering the Farm.

    • Limited parking is available on site and is not guaranteed, and additional parking is available in the surrounding residential area. Please arrive early so that you can find parking and not miss the arrival window listed on your ticket.

  • COVID-19: By purchasing tickets, guests agree to adhere to the following COVID-19 Safety policies and regulations set forth by Historic Richmond Town for Decker Farm: 

    • Everyone over 2 years old MUST WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES (unless seated and eating/ drinking). You can bring your own mask, or you can  wear one you receive with your ticket purchase. Anyone not wearing a mask will be asked to leave without refund.

    • Please practice social distancing and maintain at least 6 feet between yourself and others.

    • Any guests that fail to comply with these rules will be asked to immediately leave the grounds without refund. 

  • Refunds: Due to the necessity of timed ticketing for COVID-19 safety, there are no refunds or exchanges. No refunds will be issued and tickets purchased for time slots may not be applied to other times or days.

  • Weather: Decker Farm is open every Saturday and Sunday in October, rain or shine. No refunds will be given for inclement weather.

  • Attire: Wear appropriate footwear. Heels, open toed or non-supportive footwear strongly discouraged. Historic Richmond Town will not be held responsible or liable for any injury or illness to you or anyone in your party during or as a result of your visit to our farm. 

  • Pets: Please leave your pets at home. Service animals recognized by the ADA are welcome.

  • Photography/Videography Release: Please be advised that by entering the site for today's special events, you irrecoverably consent to be photographed or videotaped by an authorized Historic Richmond Town staffer. You also irrevocably consent that any recorded images and audio from this event may be reproduced in any and all media devised for promotional, advertising, educational, archival, or any other purposes in association with Historic Richmond Town.

  • Other: No Smoking & No Soliciting


ABOUT DECKER FARM

Decker Farm is part of Historic Richmond Town’s four sites. Built in 1810, it is New York City’s oldest, continually working, family farm. It consists of 11 rolling acres of wide-open farm fields and hosts fall fun events every October. It is now preserved and maintained as a New York City landmark by Historic Richmond Town.
