Guyon Tavern Benefit Concert

tavernBANNER.png

Historic Richmond Town’s Guyon Tavern, located along Richmond Road, has been a cornerstone of the Staten Island community for nearly two hundred years. It’s home to the renowned Tavern Concert Series. In past years, performers and audience members praised the acoustics and the ambiance of the candle-lit building and the cozy wood stove.

This year an automobile accident left the Guyon Tavern badly damaged. All programming, including the Tavern Concert Series, have been postponed until the necessary $60,000 is raised and repairs made.  While the organization is actively pursuing an insurance claim, we are eager to commence restoration of our beloved building.

To help bring back this community asset, a benefit concert will be held at Historic Richmond Town in the Third County Courthouse on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 7:30-10:00PM featuring the music of Irish Stout and The Wahoo Skiffle Crazies. All tickets sales from this event will enable Historic Richmond Town to make the crucial repairs to the Tavern.

We look forward to restoring the building in time for the 2020 Tavern Concert Series.

Built as a grocery store around 1819, the Guyon Tavern has served the village of Richmond as countless businesses, most recently Puntillo’s Barber Shop. Acquired by Borough Historian Loring McMillen and the Staten Island Historical Society in the early 1950s, this historic structure has undergone two waves of restoration and has been used as an educational tool during thousands of school and public programs.
