Historic Richmond Town Receives $100k Sponsorship from Richmond County Savings Foundation for ‘Christmas in Historic Richmond Town’ 2022
Staten Island, New York - March 22, 2022: A check for $100k was presented to Historic Richmond Town by the Richmond County Savings Foundation (RCSF) to officially announce the full sponsorship of Christmas in Historic Richmond Town 2022; which will take place on December 10-11 & 17-18, 2022. The check was presented by the Richmond County Savings Foundation Executive Director, Cesar J. Claro. Accepting the check on behalf of Historic Richmond Town was CEO Jessica B. Phillips. The ceremony took place in the historic Third County Courthouse, which was adorned with festive holiday decor, and was followed by a reception featuring freshly baked Christmas cookies and a visit from Santa himself.
Fully funded by RCSF, Christmas in Historic Richmond Town 2022 will be a true holiday spectacular where guests of all ages will find themselves immersed in a Dickens-style holiday wonderland as they step back in time at New York City’s most complete living history village.
"The start of winter brings cozy gatherings of family and friends as well as a hope for peace on earth,” says Phillips. “With this grant from the Richmond County Savings Foundation, Historic Richmond Town is delighted to create a community-wide event that promotes good cheer, glad tidings to all, and merry festive celebrations. We are very thankful to RCSF for this generous gift."
RCSF Board Member Al Curtis, who was in attendance at the presentation, echoes Phillips’ excitement: "The Richmond County Savings Foundation is proud to support Christmas in Historic Richmond Town and we look forward to sharing in the festivities alongside the community."
The event is set to be one of Staten Island’s biggest holiday attractions, with the entire village beautifully decorated for the holidays and centered around a 40 foot Christmas tree, which will be lit during a tree lighting ceremony on opening night. Also included in the festivities will be a full-scale, gholiday-themed activation of Historic Richmond Town’s living history village, complete with historical interpreters, an old-fashioned horse drawn carriage, photos with Santa and his helpers, hot and tasty local eats, shopping for gifts, crafts, and commemorative items from on-site tradespeople and much more that will bring on the jolly feel of the holiday spirit!
With this generous funding, Historic Richmond Town is excited to present this new, borough-wide, holiday celebration, and ensure a memorable experience for the entire community.
Tickets go on sale in November 2022. $10 per person, kids 12 and under are free.
