Historic Richmond Town (also herein referred to as “HRT” or “the Museum”)
is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of its online guests, customers,
members, patrons, sponsors, donors, and friends. We believe that helping
to maintain privacy on the web is very important; informing visitors to
our site about the types of data we collect and how we use it is very important.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By using the Historic Richmond Town Web site(s), you acknowledge your acceptance

Any personal information provided to Historic Richmond Town is maintained
and accessible only by the Museum and its authorized agents, unless the
Museum explicitly states otherwise.
Aggregate data could be analyzed to describe the collective characteristics
and patterns of online visitors and subsequently be used to improve the
effectiveness of our site.
WITH WHOM INFORMATION IS SHARED
The Museum will never intentionally disclose any personal information about
you as an individual user (such as your name, street address, telephone
number, credit card number, or e-mail address) to any third party without
having received your prior permission, unless compelled to in order to
comply with legal requirements.
THIRD PARTY PARTNERS
Historic Richmond Town has taken all possible precautions to insure that
the privacy of its online visitors is protected by any online partners.
In cases when users leave the Museum’s site to visit one of its partners’
sites, users are encouraged to become familiar with the privacy statements
of each site they visit.
CHANGES IN PRIVACY POLICY
Occasional changes may be made to this privacy policy as new services and
content are added to / removed from the site or to keep current with changes
in the Museum’s policies. Visitors to the Museum’s Web site are should
periodically review this privacy policy for HRT privacy guidelines which
are in effect.
TYPES OF DATA COLLECTED
Historic Richmond Town does not collect, through its website, any personal
information about individuals—such as names and postal or e-mail addresses—except
when such information is knowingly provided to the Museum. Personal information
may be received as part of a form submission or in connection with other
activities, services, or resources made available on the site. Any personal
identification information retrieved by the Museum must be voluntarily
submitted by the user.
Like most sites, the Museum’s web server does collect some anonymous “non-personally
identifiable” information about visitors automatically when pages on our
Web site are requested through a browser. This information is used for
statistical purposes and to help us monitor how guests navigate the site,
allowing us to improve our services for the majority of visitors. Non-personally
identifiable information may refer to information about our visitors’ browsers
(e.g., Firefox, Opera, or Internet Explorer), operating systems (e.g.,
Windows or Macintosh or Linux), Internet Service Providers (e.g., Verizon®,
RCN®, or Optimum Online®), and other similar information.
The Museum’s Web server records connecting IP addresses as part of the
non-personally identifiable information. An IP address is a number assigned
to your computer, or device that you are connecting through, and is assigned
by your Internet service provider. This information is used only for non-user-specific
purposes such as determining how many users visited a specific area of
our site. Such information could, if necessary, be used to identify a user
in order to comply with safety and/or security issues or with legal requirements.
USE OF COOKIES
A cookie is a small file that is sent to your browser from a Web site and
stored on your computer’s persistent storage device(s). Historic Richmond
Town might use cookies to control access to user specific site features,
to customize content areas, or to analyze site activity and user browsing
and/or navigation behavior. The Museum also reserves the right to use cookies
in the future with new content or to extended functionality.
