Visit Historic Richmond Town for this annual festival of historic trades, skills, homecrafts, and celebration of Staten Island cultural heritage.
Historic Richmond Town's annual festival of living history and cultural heritage, OId Home Day showcases the traditions of the past and the diversity of Staten Island today. Demonstrations of historic trades are featured in open buildings throughout the village campus. Fresh apple cider is pressed behind the tavern, along with warm soup made over an open flame and fresh bread baked in the 1820s kitchen of the Guyon-Lake-Tysen House. Live performances of historical music echo from the taproom of the tavern, and the crack of muskets resound from the village fields.
Living historians at the Native Encampment and the Voorlezer's House interpret the contact and conflict of the Lenape and Dutch settlers of the 16th century.
